Feng Shui health balls appeared between 960 and 1127 during the Northern Song Dynasty. The city of Baoding in China is considered to be the cradle of Feng Shui balls, as they were mostly manufactured there during the Ming dynasty between 1368 and 1644. However, they were reserved exclusively for martial arts or offered as gifts to influential personalities of the imperial court.
They are usually presented in a box, in the form of two balls of varying diameter, but which fit in the hands. They can be decorated with various motifs recalling the influence of Yin and Yang (most of the time: a dragon and a phoenix). There are two types: the so-called "solid" balls made of jade or semi-precious stone and the "singing" ones, hollow and containing an iron element symbolizing the roar of the dragon and the song of the phoenix when they are stirred.
Today, these Qi Gong balls are used in reflexology, relaxation and various other therapeutic fields. Indeed, they work on the same principle as acupuncture by stimulating the reflex zones of the hand or feet. Thus, the energy circulation tones and relaxes your body. It is also an excellent de-stressing agent and a way to prevent arthritis.
Using them on a daily basis allows you to calm down and find a certain serenity. Your organism fills up with vitality from day to day. Chinese health balls are also ideal for reducing high blood pressure and various muscle tensions.
Far from being a treatment, they are an excellent preventive measure. Chinese medicine always uses this type of exercise to strengthen the body. By stimulating the energies, your body also regains its mobility and natural immunity.
How to use the Chinese health balls?
To use the Feng Shui balls, simply place them in your hand (the one of your choice), then rotate them without touching each other and without making any noise. Your body must be relaxed during the whole practice. Change hands regularly for a better flow of energy.
It is also possible to use the Qi Gong balls on the soles of the feet. To do so, place them on the floor and put your foot on them. Roll the balls under your feet in order to stimulate the acupuncture and reflexology points.
